Emily Grace Miller

Emily grew up in St. Louis, MO where she and her sister Lacy launched a theatre company on their driveway, which their neighbors called. . . Broadway on the Driveway. In high school, the sisters began fundraising and grant writing so that “broadway" could move "off" the driveway into a real theatre with air conditioning!  Shortly after, their childhood theatre company became a business and ran for 18 years, featuring casts of up to 90 young performers and reaching over 2,000 patrons each summer.

In 2014, Emily relocated to Charleston, SC to continue her work as a professional entertainer, director, and choreographer. She can often be found onstage as “Gracie” with Gracie & Lacy and The South of Broad Band, singing and dancing the hits of The Great American Songbook. Performance highlights include Feinstein’s 54/Below, NASA’s Apollo 11 50th, guest appearances with HBO, The Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and the North Charleston POPS!

Emily attributes her performance style to Hollywood stars such as Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell, Gene Kelly, the Nicholas Brothers, and Audrey Hepburn. She has a passion for directing and choreographing dance-driven musicals, especially musicals with tap dancing. Directorial & Choreography credits include Singin’ in the Rain, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to name a few.

An advocate for the arts, Emily has enthusiasm for collaborative projects that make the arts accessible to young people. Over the years, she has helped secure many grants to promote performance opportunities and experiential learning for aspiring young artists.

A songwriter and a playwright, Emily and her sister Lacy co-wrote the musical, The Four Freedoms - A Tribute to Norman Rockwell, celebrating the renowned painter and illustrator.  The lively 1940s era show features orchestrations and additional music by Jonathan Gathman with additional music and contributions to the orchestration by Michael Ramshaw. A concert version of the musical was featured in the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC.  Plans are in the works for future stagings of the musical and concert versions of the show.

When Emily is not working on a production, you might find her tap dancing in her living room or baking anything with chocolate and butter.  She can do the splits up the wall, but sadly, she cannot whistle. Her favorite movies are The Sound of Music and Ben-Hur.  Emily's go-to song if ever she's feeling blue is "Psalm 34 (Live)" by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
